We depart our home city for the sunny city of San Diego California.  San Diego is a city on the Pacific coast of California known for its beaches, parks and warm climate. Immense Balboa Park is the site of the renowned San Diego Zoo, as well as numerous art galleries, artist studios, museums and gardens.  We arrive into the San Diego airport and are transferred to our hotel.  Upon arrival we have the rest of the day free.

Breakfast at the hotel and then we depart to Sunny Jimmy Cave Store.  Tucked away in La Jolla, California stands a wood-shingled house that doubles as retail store and sells all manner of beachfront necessities, including watercolor paintings, jewelry and snorkel gear. It would be just one of a million coastal boutiques if not for an incredible twist. It has a back entrance that descends into a colorful sea cave and one of the most spectacular and hidden views of the ocean in the entire state. The Sunny Jim Cave Store has the only entrance to any sea cave in California that you can access via land. If you are adventurous take the entrance which is a narrow and dim tunnel that leads from the store to a staircase made of 145 damp steps that descend directly into the sea cave. The narrow tunnel and cave walls are incredibly colorful, due to the natural minerals and the effect the saltwater has on them. They’ve also become a home to pigeons and sea birds, giving this already dark tunnel a vibe that Hitchcock would approve of.  This is a place like no other.  If you decide the cave is not for you we just move on to having lunch at a restaurant on the sea.  Then it is on to the beach! We travel on to one of the best beaches in the area La Jolla Cove Beach is located at the northeast end of Ellen Browning Scripps Park in La Jolla. This beach is protected by a rocky point which blocks waves rolling in from the west most of the time and creates a safe swimming beach. Since it is north-facing, usually there are shaded areas at the back of the beach. Later we return to the hotel for the evening.

Breakfast at the hotel and then we travel to San Diego Zoo’s Safari Park.  Here you will get to witness a family of giraffes mingle among the gazelles and cranes while rhinos gather at a watering hole. Observe South African cheetahs lounging on a sunny hill or gaze into the eyes of the majestic California condor. Board the Africa tram tour for a 30-minute tour past herds of elephants, zebras, and several endangered species. Venture into the dense forests and grassy savannas at the Heart of Africa, a 32 acre safari trail. Miles of walking trails lead guests to overlooks of lions, tigers and special encounters with exotic creatures. Stroll through Nairobi Village for shopping and dining. (Approximate tour 4 hours).  Later return back to the hotel for the rest of the day on your own.

Breakfast at the hotel and then we are off on a whale-watching expedition in San Diego on this 4-hour cruise guided by experts. Get the scoop from a guide who studies the migratory patterns of grey whales as you keep a lookout for whales in the water. Later return to the hotel for the rest of the day on your own.

Breakfast at the hotel and then we head out to the beach. Give your kids their first surf lesson, and they’ll practice paddling, popping-up and riding waves on one of San Diego’s prettiest beaches. They’ll join a group of novice surfers and a team of kid-friendly instructors, and spend the 1.5-hour lesson learning new skills on the sand and in the water. It’s a first taste of surfing that emphasizes safe practices and having fun, and is the perfect chance to experience Southern California’s most iconic sport. The rest of the day is yours to enjoy the beach.

Breakfast at the hotel and then we are off for the day.  The choice is yours to which park you want to visit either Legoland or Aquatica Sea World’s Water Park.

Legoland  has  more than 60 rides, shows and attractions, it is an interactive, hands-on theme park experience for families with children 2 - 12. The Resort is also home to SEA LIFE® Aquarium and the world's first LEGOLAND® Water Park.

Aquatica Sea World’s Water Park is water fun for all ages. Enjoy a day of thrills and water rides as you zip along on lazy rivers, tide pools and water funnels. This is a must for children soaking up the California sun. Enjoy attraction admission and round-trip transportation

Balboa Park is ever changing. always amazing.  Where culture, science, and nature collide, Balboa Park is home to more than 16 museums, multiple performing arts venues, lovely gardens, trails, and many other creative and recreational attractions, including the San Diego Zoo. With a variety of cultural institutions among its 1,200 beautiful and lushly planted acres, there is something for everyone. After the adventure return to the hotel and prepare for your flight back home tomorrow.

Depending on your flight time you have breakfast at the hotel and then transfer to the airport for your flights back home.
